Suing on Behalf of Your Injured Child after an Upstate New York Crash

Watching your child suffer injuries is one of the most distressing things imaginable for parents in upstate New York. Unfortunately, children become injured on a fairly regular basis in auto crashes. These injured children may face expensive medical treatments as they embark on a long road to recovery. They may also miss school or suffer disfigurements that stay with them for the rest of their lives. In addition, the emotional and psychological trauma may irrevocably change these children forever. As a parent, you might be intent on pursuing justice for the injuries your child has sustained. But how can you sue and recover the compensation you need to cover damages? Let’s find out:

School Bus Crash Causes Scores of Injuries

On February 28th, it was reported that a bus driver had crashed, sending half of all student passengers to the hospital. Apparently, the school bus collided with a passenger vehicle when the latter moved through an intersection and caused the accident due to negligence. Eight of the 16 students were sent to a nearby hospital for evaluation, although the injuries were thankfully minor.

On February 13th, it was reported that an Amish buggy had been struck by a drunk driver in Barneveld, causing critical injuries for a two-year-old girl. The occupants of the buggy were thrown from their vehicle in the collision, and the child suffered a broken leg and fractured skull. Four other family members were injured, including a 4-month-old child. The drunk driver was charged with aggravated drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. He was later determined to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.21 — twice the legal limit.

On February 28th, it was reported that a 9-year-old girl had lost her life due to a crash in Seneca. The single-vehicle crash involved the girl’s vehicle leaving the road, striking several trees, and coming to a rest in an embankment. Two other minors in the crash suffered minor injuries, and the driver suffered an extensive hand injury. The accident remains under investigation as of this writing.
